Bridget learned how to knit this spring. (It is very hard work for me... I am asked to fix it every few stitches... and she forgets where to put the yarn or the needle about every six stitches... but she is happy.

She also has decided that she loves to kayak, and she likes to fish. She doesn't paddle yet, she is just along for the ride, but it is fun and exciting for her all the same.

The boys also spent some time in the kayaks on the Fourth of July, but I was so busy paddling (trying to keep up) that there is no photographic evidence. I suspect we will go again soon, and there will be photos next time.

In addition to kayaking, knitting and finishing Kindgergarten, Bridget also learned to ride a bicycle without training wheels this summer. Charles and Aaron were the most help- Aaron was patient and helped her start, and Charles taught her how to push off on her own. So far, she has bruised her legs and ankles, and got a bit of a strawberry from leaping off the bicycle mid-ride. I can only imagine what it is going to be like when she's riding on cement and pavement.

Memorial Day

We drove to the Eastern Shore Railroad Museum last weekend- it was closed for the holiday, but we were still able to look at the old rail cars and walk on the tracks.

Bridget is turning out to be quite a photographer. She took a lovely photo of Tom and me while we were at the museum:

Bridget also helped water the garden with Tom's Dad:

Then she drove the miniature John Deere around the yard for about 1/2 an hour. It was a very nice weekend.

Visit from Aunt Jane

Aunt Jane came for a short visit this week- Bridget already misses her. Here is Aunt Jane with Bridget and Emily:

And Bridget insisted she be allowed to photograph Aunt Jane with Emily, and Carrot with me.

Metamorphosis

We purchased Painted Lady larvae weeks and weeks ago- and they arrived a month and a half ago... and ate and grew, and ate more, and grew more, then ate and ate and grew... then they crawled to the top of the jar and became chrysalis(es?)- and finally, this week, the cocoons opened up, and we had five Painted Lady butterflies.

Concrete Ships and a Short Walk

Tom and Bridget and I went up to Kiptopeke to see the concrete ships last weekend, then we took a walk.

Bridget brought Carrot along for our walk- they found flowers everywhere.

Purple Ponies

We went up to Chincoteague to see the lighthouse and the ponies a few weeks ago:

Bridget was upset that we did not see any purple ponies.

Happy Birthday Janie

Hopefully these days, nobody's hogging the Pillsbury Dough Boy and gloating about it.

I sincerely hope that both of us are dressing a little better. The blue polka-dot dress you are sporting here is a little unfortunate, but there has got to be a law against pants as bad as the ones I'm wearning. Good grief... it looks like we were auditioning for the circus... but it does make me giggle.

Bridget thought our outfits were beautiful, so it must be a crazy kid thing.

Happy Birthday. Here's a big hug. (big hug)
